WEDDINGS
Planning a Wedding?

The Nadder Valley Team welcomes approaches from couples wishing to be married in any of our church buildings. If you wish to arrange a date to get married or would like to discuss the possibility of getting married in Church, please contact the parish office to arrange a first meeting with the Vicar.

You are welcome to marry in church whatever your beliefs, whether or not you are baptised and whether or not you go to church. And, marrying in church has never been easier thanks to a change in the law which means you now have more churches to choose from. If you would like to marry in one of our churches because it has special significance for you, even though it is not where you live, you will only have to show a “qualifying connection” to be married by banns or by common license as if, under the present law, you had been resident in the parish or on the electoral roll of the church.

A qualifying connection will be that you have previously been connected with the church or parish either directly or through a member of your family.

If either of you can answer “yes” to any of the following questions, you will be likely to be able to be married in the church.

Were you baptised in the parish?

Is there a record of your confirmation in the record book of the parish?

Have you lived in the parish for at least six months at any time?

Have you habitually attended public worship in the parish for at least six months at any time?

Do your parents currently live in the parish?

Have your parents previously lived in the parish for at least six months at any time?

Have your parents habitually attended public worship in the parish for at least six months at any time?

Were your parents married in the parish?

Were your grandparents married in the parish?

Additional resources for planning your wedding are available on the C of E website,
Your Church Wedding.
