Please pray for Sudan and its people
The Diocese of Salisbury Sudan-Link Prayer Network is active throughout the whole Diocese, communicates with churches and individuals via e-mail. Prayer needs can be sent to sudan.prayer@salisbury.anglican.org Praying for the issues below you will be adding your prayers to those of others from every parish in the diocese.
July 2010
Peace and the CPA There are now just six months to the completion of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed in 2005. Please pray that it's full implementation is supported by it's original creators and brings a lasting peace to all parts of Sudan.
2011 Referendum Please pray for the politicians as they resume talks on the referendum bill, other issues related to the 2011 referendum and post referendum arrangements in Sudan. The referendum will have a deep impact on all of Sudan. Please pray for a direct engagement by the International Community as they did during the peace talks to prevent Sudan from returning to civil war.
Wad Medani Election Please pray for the elections to choose a bishop for the new diocese of Wad Medani. Pray that God will guide those involved to select a person who will lead the diocese with intelligence and compassion to do God’s will in all things.
Enthronement Delayed Please pray for the Vision Conference planned in Wau diocese from July 5th -9th. It is hoped seventy people will attend. Pray that there will be enough facilities to provide for these people and that the Holy Spirit will dwell with them during their time together.
Under Tree Schools Give thanks for the ongoing work of Joseph and Karin Ayok-Loewenberg whose charity work makes such a difference to people’s lives in Sudan. Please pray for the many other determined and ingenious people operating small charities for those in need. Pray also for those in need that have not yet been reached and still suffer.
Bishop of Cueibet Please pray for Rev Elijah Matueny as he travels to Juba for his consecration as bishop on July 18th. Pray for his safe arrival and that he may be empowered by the Holy Spirit in the task set before him as bishop of Cueibet diocese.
Flipo Mawaela Please pray for Flipo and the thousands like him, that have lost all their friends and family to a civil war that for them cannot simply end with the cessation of fighting. For people such as Flipo the word peace has little meaning, please pray that the real meaning of peace will be brought to his heart and the hearts of so many that have only known fighting and death.
